We embrace the UN Sustainable Development Goals as a guiding framework for our CSR endeavours. While we are in support of all 17 SDGs, we place particular emphasis on those closely aligned with our mission and industry. Those are SDG 8, 12, 13, and 15.
By aligning our efforts with these key SDGs, we strive to make a positive and lasting impact on both local and global scale.
As a leading supplier in small packaging in emerging markets, we strive to empower local production and adhere to fair-trade principles in dealings with local producers.
Nedstar is committed to working exclusively with suppliers that operate responsibly and promotes the distribution of organic ethyl alcohol and emission-saving measures in ethanol production.
We compensate our CO2 emissions by planting trees through various reforestation projects in collaboration with Tree Nation.
Nedstar advocates for regenerative organic production of raw materials. Besides, we support The Green Intelligence in educating Nepalese communities on sustainable land use.
Nedstar works together with several organisations to offset our CO2 emissions, enhance biodiversity, and boost economic prospects for local communities:
Tree Nation is a reforestation platform certified by leading international CO2 certification standards such as VCS, CCB and Plan Vivo. In collaboration with them, Nedstar is able to calculate and offset our carbon footprint by planting trees in reforestation projects worldwide. Since December 2020, we have offset more than 25.000 tonnes of CO2 through the planting of 50,000+ trees, which equals approximately 47 hectares. You can find our Nedstar trees in reforestation projects in India, Nepal, Tanzania, and Bolivia among others.
The Green Intelligence restores degraded and monocultural landscapes with healthy productive food forests to enhance biodiversity, build resilient landscapes and increase economic opportunities for local communities. Nedstar’s financial support goes towards the organization's community and youth training that raises awareness of climate-resilient forestry solutions. This allows community members to specialise in environmental practices and marketable products that are harvestable from the productive forests.
Ethanol is created solely from renewable resources, preserving our planet's finite resources. Its potential exceeds even further as it can be derived from residues of ethanol production (so called second-generation ethanol). Furthermore, the waste generated during this process finds new life as it is repurposed into valuable commodities like animal feed and fertilizer, making it a truly remarkable product with countless life cycles.
Dealing with raw materials such as sugar cane, corn, grain, or grapes means close collaboration with suppliers in emerging markets in South America, Africa, and the Middle East. This is especially important to us since we strive to empower local production in those economic areas, for example by forging fair-trade agreements with local producers, enhancing their opportunities and creating positive change. We only select suppliers that share our values and convictions, meaning that we only cooperate with producers that promote ethical operations.
Nedstar’s excellent customer service, frictionless logistics, and market expertise would all not be possible without our employees who go above and beyond for our customers and other stakeholders. Our employees’ wellbeing is paramount for our company. We actively encourage our NedSTARs’ growth mindset by offering tailored learning opportunities, as well as team activities that make us work better together as a team and continue act with honesty, integrity, and trust.
