Certifications
Nedstar second generation bioethanol is always BRCGS, ISO9001, REACH and ECHA Art. 95 certified. Depending on your requirements, we also offer products certified as organic, non-GMO or kosher.
As part of our commitment to creating a better tomorrow, we proudly offer Second Generation Bioethanol (2G ethanol) as part of our diversified product portfolio. Designed to meet the demands of a more sustainable future, 2G ethanol aligns perfectly with our values of environmental preservation and social impact.
2G ethanol is a sustainable alternative to traditional ethanol made from non-food biomass, such as agricultural residues, for example corn stover and sugarcane bagasse, and forestry waste. While its molecular structure, chemical properties, and characteristics are identical to conventional sugarcane or corn ethanol, 2G ethanol stands out for its significantly reduced carbon footprint and potential for net zero emissions.
This innovative ethanol not only reduces dependency on food-based feedstocks but also repurposes waste materials into valuable energy resources. By choosing 2G ethanol, you contribute to a circular economy while meeting your business’s sustainability goals.

Explore how 2nd generation bioethanol can meet your operational needs and environmental goals.
Our second generation bioethanol is produced using advanced processes that maximise efficiency and minimise waste, showcasing Nedstar’s dedication to quality and sustainability at every stage.
Feedstock processing
Agricultural residues or forestry waste undergo pretreatment to break down lignocellulosic material into fermentable sugars.
Enzymatic hydrolysis
Enzymes convert the pretreated material into simple sugars.
Fermentation
Microorganisms ferment the sugars to produce ethanol.
Distillation
During distillation, ethanol is purified to meet the highest standards for food and non-food applications.
Second generation bioethanol is a versatile solution for multiple industries, including:
By incorporating 2G ethanol into your supply chain, you’re choosing a product that supports both performance and planet.
Nedstar’s second generation bioethanol complies with the Renewable Energy Directive II (RedII), ensuring it meets stringent EU sustainability criteria. This guarantees that our ethanol not only supports carbon emission reductions but also aligns with global renewable energy targets. RedII compliance reflects our commitment to high sustainability standards and traceability across the supply chain.
Nedstar second generation bioethanol is always BRCGS, ISO9001, REACH and ECHA Art. 95 certified. Depending on your requirements, we also offer products certified as organic, non-GMO or kosher.
If you do not use 2G ethanol for food and beverage grade products, we can denature it for you. In that case, Nedstar denatured 2G ethanol will be exempt from excise duty. Choose multiple denaturing agents that fit your regional regulations such as DEP, MEK, Bitrex, IPA or Euro Denatured.

Yes, 2G ethanol has the same molecular structure and chemical properties as conventional ethanol, allowing it to be used interchangeably.
By utilising waste materials as feedstock, 2G ethanol reduces carbon emissions and supports global efforts toward a circular economy and net zero targets.
At Nedstar, we offer a complete end-to-end solution for 2G ethanol worldwide, from feedstock processing to the final product, ensuring quality, reliability, and alignment with your sustainability goals.
